School Crossing Patrol Information

We would like to share this important message with you from Blackpool Council Integrated Transport, Community & Environmental Services:

“Dear All,

I am writing to inform you of the on-going pressures on the crossing patrol service where despite our endeavours to recruit vacant posts, within the crossing patrol service, there has been very poor take up, and therefore many permanent posts remain vacant.

Below, I have listed the locations which are going out to advert again shortly, however, resources are stretched to the max, and as a result this will also impact any number of other schools not listed below where permanent staff may be unavailable and crossings cannot be covered.

Mereside (Langdale Road)
Baines Endowed (Bispham Road)
Anchorsholme (North Drive/ Luton Road)
Devonshire Primary (Caunce Street)
St John Vianney (Park Road)
Our Lady (Common Edge Road)
Unity (Devonshire Road)
Plus Mobile School Crossing Patrol

Your help is critical. Due to the significant concern of unmanned crossings putting children at considerable risk, we again ask schools if they are able to support the service using staff already employed within schools to take on the role on a casual paid basis. Equipment and training will be provided to carry out the role. Please could you email transportdirect@blackpool.gov.uk details of staff who would be willing to take on the role as a school crossing patrol as soon as possible to support children at our schools?

We are also asking for you to promote the permanent SCP vacancies plus one Mobile SCP, due to be re-advertised externally, via your external communications to parents, guardians, governors etc. If you have any questions, suggestions, and our ongoing request for you to keep us informed of any changes to school times, early finishes and holiday changes, please also email transportdirect@blackpool.gov.uk
